WEEK 23 REPORT W/E 17TH MARCH

17/03/2023

DIVISION 1
Poulton are the new champions after a huge win over Kingfisher B ! Needing a win, Poulton showed no signs of nerves as they only dropped 1 mens games for a 23-1 victory. The enormity of their title win cannot be exaggerated, as they become the first team to finally topple Hesketh Fleetwood A and win the league in 26 years!! The 3 points means they end the season 2 points ahead of their arch rivals. Congratulations to the team which mainly consisted of :-
Michelle Skinner Nikki Wilford Dawn Whitby
Nick Hodgson Ant Forrest Jack Needham Stuart Smerdon.

DIVISION 2
Kirkham Charter B easily beat Stanley B 20-4 to continue their great run of form which has seen them win 5 and draw 1 of their previous 6 matches! Clare Doherty and Jake Meakin won a levels each and split their mixed to win 3 games for Stanley. Carol Howarth was the POTM in an excellent performance which saw her win all 8 games for Kirkham. Stanley’s final match means they finish the season next to bottom and will be hoping for a better season next time. Kirkham, with one winnable match left, will probably finish 4th, which is a remarkable turnaround for a side that lost 6 of their opening 7 matches!

LEVELS
Lightning B overwhelmed Kirkham Charter 16-0 to move, temporarily, into 3rd spot. Although they may ultimately finish 5th, this has nonetheless been a very successful season for Lightning. Kirkham will finish last, however, this has been very good experience for their new team.

Hesketh Fleetwood B easily beat Bloomfield A 16-0. Despite some close competitive games, HF were always in control. The win virtually guarantees a creditable 3rd place.
Bloomfield finish just below half way but a much improved season from last year.
