WEEK 10 REPORT W/E 21ST JANUARY

21/01/2022

Division 1
Kingfisher B won 6 games against Poulton which wasn't quite enough to earn them a much needed bonus point. Poulton were 10-2 ahead after the levels thanks to a clean sweep from their ladies. In the mixed, Kingfisher were successful in 4 games all won by Lynne Williams and Callum Grayson. Nikki Wilford was POTM as she won all her games with Callum winning 5 of his teams 6 games.

Struggling Pilling managed a solitary game through Elaine Danson and Andy Davies but were otherwise completely outplayed by a strong Kingfisher A who won 12 levels and 11 mixed to chalk up another big score. Kingfisher had 4 players with maximum games with Esther Steadman the player with the best points difference.

Lightning B suffered a 24-0 defeat by Hesketh Fleetwood A which wasn't helped by having only 5 players and therefore had to concede 8 games. HF move back to the top by virtue of having a 10 game advantage over Poulton with both teams having a 100% record. The big match between the 2 rivals happens next week!

Division 2
Stanley A responded to their first defeat last week with a hard fought win at struggling Lids. A maximum 6 games from their men together with 3 split sets in the ladies got them off to a great start. They dropped only another 3 games on their way to an 18-6 final score. However this wasn't an easy win for Stanley. The score line, didn't reflect the close games throughout the match as Lids fought hard and we're unlucky not to earn a bonus point. Reehan Khan was the best player on the night with a maximum 8 games. Julie Bennett played well for Lids as she split all her games. Stanley move clear in second but Lids rooted firmly at the wrong end of the division.

The league leaders, Hesketh Fleetwood B, easily overcame their own C team 23-1 who unfortunately had to concede 7 games due to an injury. Lindsay Newton and Phil Fyles with the solitary game. HF on their way to a quick return to the top division and currently averaging over 21 games per match.

Levels
An injury in the very first game left Stanley having to concede 7 games! The other 9 games were all won by Hesketh Fleetwood B for a maximum 16-0 win. HF move up to second but probably only temporarily.
