Week 11 Report W/E 22nd November

23/11/2019

Division 1

A double header at Preesall as the best 3 teams battled it out for top spot. Kingfisher A entertained league leaders and title favourites Poulton. The levels ended with Kingfisher only 5-7 behind and still in with a chance. However, Poulton won the next 3 sets to win the match with 6 games still to play. In a turnaround, Kingfisher did manage to win 5 of the last 6 to grab a bonus point. Michelle Skinner and Nick Hodgson won 6 for Poulton and Luke Bennett was the only Kingfisher player to win more than half his games with 5. Poulton still with a 100% record - Kingfisher at 3rd spot.

Fleetwood A never relinquished their early lead of 10-2 after the levels to beat Pilling A 19-5. Only Andy Davis was able to offer any resistance as he was involved in all 5 of Pilling's wins ! Cath Bagley was the only Fleetwood player to win all 8 games. Fleetwood keep up the pressure on Poulton and Pilling remain near the bottom but probably safe from relegation.

Despite fielding 2 reserves Albany A keep their momentum going with a 17-7 home win against Kingfisher B. However this was far from comfortable as Kingfisher can regard themselves as unlucky not to win the 8 games required for a bonus point. Kingfisher went 8-4 down after the levels and were in with a chance for an extra point.. However this soon became impossible as they lost 9 of the first 10 mixed games - although some of these games were extremely close. Oliver Hives with 8 and Lee Williams 7 were top scorers for Albany whilst Sarah Woodhouse and Rachel Dewhurst won 4 each for Kingfisher who are still next to bottom but fighting hard. Albany's unbeaten run stretches to 4 matches but visit Fleetwood next!

Division 3
Lids B are looking for a quick return to Division 2 after a 19-5 win against Stanley B. Lids easily won the ladies 6-0 but the men's were more evenly contested and ended tied at 3-3. In the mixed Lids proved too strong, winning 10/12. Both Wan Desmond and Julie Bennett won 8 and Robert Lee played well to win 4 games for Stanley. Lids up to 2nd but have played a game more than their rivals.

Ribby Hall B had a much needed win over Kirkham Charter B. Julie Lalouette won 5 of her 6 games played for Ribby but Ian Cartmell won 7 and was best player on the night after being involved in all of Kirkham's wins !

Levels
Fleetwood move back to the top after demolishing mid table Warton B 15-1. Only a Mike Cooper and Kevin Youles split prevented the bagel ! Ant Cross and Ben Yau won all 8 of their 8 games.

Last match of the week saw Stanley win away at Broughton 13-3. Some close games especially early on as Broughton found themselves only 3-5 down at the half way stage. However the second half of the match was all Stanley. Aprajay Golash and Bipin Lad won 2 for the home team and both Lee Meakin and Colin Davison won 7 for Stanley.
