2019-2020 Preview

07/09/2019

We welcome two new clubs in Bloomfield and Broughton who have entered one team each into the Levels division - Good luck to both teams! In addition, Warton have also entered a new C team in the Levels division.

These three new teams have offset the loss of Lids C and Albany Levels so that the new league structure now consists of 7 teams in each of the 3 Mixed divisions whilst the Levels division now has 8 teams.

Division 1
When Fleetwood last failed to win the league 24 years ago, Roger Federer was still in school and Manchester United were really good ! It is rumoured however, that some teams have strengthened their sides for this season - so could this be the season that their domination ends?
At the opposite end of the table, newly promoted Hesketh A and Kingfisher B will once again attempt to stay in the division. Amazingly, for the previous four seasons, they have either been promoted together or relegated together ! Both teams will be hoping that this sequence changes.

Division 2
It's the same story for Albany B as they have also experienced two relegations and two promotions in four years ! On that basis they must be amongst the favourites to go up along with Lids and Pilling. The league's only unbeaten team last season were Division 3 champions Hesketh B whilst Kirkham Charter A finished runners up. Both teams will fight hard to stay in a division which is difficult to predict.

Division 3
Stanley A were relegated in their final match of last season and will be hoping for a quick return to division 2. They will be considered favourites together with Ribby Hall A who narrowly missed out on promotion. Bottom team Kingfisher C showed some fighting qualities which could help them improve on last season.

Levels Division
Warton A were last seasons champions by virtue of winning 6 more games than Project 12. Both teams will no doubt be fighting for top spot again, however new teams Bloomfield and Broughton are both unknown and could provide an upset or two.

The season starts on Monday 9th with
Div 1 Pilling A v Poulton
Div 1 Kingfisher A v Kingfisher B
Div 3 Kirkham Charter B v Lids B

Best wishes and good luck to all clubs, teams, and players.
