League Review & Stats !

02/03/2019

Division 1
As expected Fleetwood A comfortably retained their Division 1 title after another record breaking season. Amazingly this was their 44th title but even more impressive is the fact that it was their 23rd consecutive win !!
Kingfisher A have finished runners up in the previous 3 seasons and this year maintained their position as the 2nd best team in the league as they once again finished runners up only 3 points behind Fleetwood.
Nikki Wilford was the division's outstanding performer which helped Poulton A, who were consistent throughout the season, to take 3rd place.
Albany dropped to 4th from 3rd last season despite beating Kingfisher twice.
These four teams finished well ahead of Lids A and Pilling A who both finished comfortably in mid table.
Warton A and Albany B were both promoted from division 2 last season and were expected to struggle. Before the season started however Warton withdrew from the league which left Albany adrift at the foot of the table.

Division 2
Relegated from division 1 last season both Hesketh A and Kingfisher B made a quick return as they finished in the top 2 places. Champions Hesketh finished 2 points ahead of their rivals after leading the way all season. Kingfisher finished the season strongly winning their last 5 matches comfortably and could have even finished top had they not conceded a match earlier in the season.
Separated by just 1 point Pilling B and Lids B occupied the next 2 places whilst Project 12, promoted last season, claimed a mid table spot.
Fleetwood B spent most of the season in the bottom 2 whilst Stanley A looked to be fairly safe. However in the last 5 matches Fleetwood won 11 points whilst Stanley only won 4. The great escape was only completed in the final week when Fleetwood won and Stanley lost.
Newly promoted Lids C found life difficult in the step up to a higher division.

Division 3
Congratulations to Champions Hesketh B - the only unbeaten team in the league! All their full team players won over 70% in a great team effort but it was Andy Manson who managed to win nearly 90% of his games who was undoubtedly the main star.
Kirkham Charter A, relegated from division 2 last season, managed to finish in 2nd place losing only 2 matches, both to Hesketh, and finished 4 points behind them. A further 4 points behind were Ribby Hall A who were also relegated last season whilst Ribby Hall B finished comfortably in mid table.
Kirkham Charter B finished the season very strongly with 10 points from their final 5 matches but it wasn't quite enough as they finished just 1 point behind Stanley B. After a good start, with 2 wins from their first 3 matches, Kingfisher C unfortunately failed to win any more matches.
