DIVISION 1
Lightning A maintained their unbeaten start with a tough away fixture at Kingfisher A. In the top half of the table clash, Kingfisher won 4 ladies but Lightning responded by winning all the mens to lead 8-4 after the levels. That lead was far from decisive however, as Kingfisher are known to have a strong mixed discipline. In the first half of the mixed, Kingfisher won 4 to reduce the deficit to 10-8. In final 3 sets, Kingfisher won the first set to square the match. Both sides then won a set each for the final match score of 12 all. Kingfisher’s Rachel Dewhurst was POTM for winning 7 with Oliver Hives winning 6 for Lightning.
Poulton beat Hesketh Fleetwood B for the loss of only 2 games to stay in contention at the top of the division. Poulton won 11 levels and 11 mixed. The levels were mostly comfortable but the mixed was more competitive with some close scores. Nikki Wilford, Sharon Hamer and Ant Forrest all recording maximum wins whilst Ben Yau won 1 mens and 1 mixed.
DIVISION 2
Lightning B beat Hesketh Fleetwood C in a match with 6 settings, 4 of which they won. Lightning won 5 ladies and 4 mens to give them a healthy 9-3 lead. HF could only manage another 4 mixed games to end on 7 games and just miss out on a bonus point.Karen Pye and Amit Mistry both won 7 and Ant Cross won 4 for HF as he split all his sets. Lightning go 4 points clear at the top.
LEVELS
An expected 16-0 win for Hesketh Fleetwood A over Kirkham Charter means Kirkham remain bottom whilst last season’s champions move ominously closer to the top. HF now 3 points behind Lightning A with a match in hand with both teams having 100% records.
Lids B got off to a good start as they won 5 of the first 6 games against Bloomfield B. Of the 8 sets played Lids won 4 whilst 4 sets were split. Tony Hayward won 7 games. Despite being on the losing team, Bloomfield’s Phil Hough played well to split all his games.
