GAZETTE TROPHY

Pilling +150 lost to Hesketh Fleetwood A by 61 points.
Division 1 champions and cup holders Hesketh Fleetwood A easily overcame Pilling thanks mainly to their ladies who gained 85 points. The mens was more evenly matched with HF only gaining 21 points as Pilling scored well in 5 of the games and only lost ground in the final mens game. After the levels, HF had clawed back 106 points to be well on target at the half way stage. In the mixed HF won another 105 points and therefore won the match by 211 points less 150 handicap. Caroline Andrew and Tim Vickers, in particular, only conceded 24 points in their 4 games. Andrew Davis won 4 games and was comfortably Pillings best player. Caroline had the best points difference of the night gaining a massive 120 points, winning all her games and conceding only an average of 6 points per game. HF through to another final where they will play Lightning B after Poulton conceded their semi final match.

BRIDGEWOOD TROPHY

KIrkham Charter B + 50 beat Hesketh Fleetwood C by 78 points.
Kirkham kept in touch with HF in the levels as their ladies gained 16 points whilst the men conceded 21 leaving HF with an uphill task in the mixed. Their job became much more difficult as Kirkham gained another 10 points in the first 2 sets and then forged ahead in the next 2 sets, gaining a match winning 44 points. HF pulled a few points back in the final 2 sets but it was too late as Kirkham won the mixed by 33 points. Although the match ended 12 all in games Kirkham finished 28 points ahead plus 50 handicap. Derek Hill and Phil Fyles were HF's best player but Kirkham's Carol Howarth and Emma Nickson had the best points scores in the match.

Lids +40 beat Stanley B by 89 points.
Lids got off to a great start in the levels, as their men gained 39 points to put them ahead at the half way stage by 41 points. The mixed was much more even with Lids gaining another 8 points. Lids therefore won the match by 49 points plus a 40 point handicap. James Norman and Mark Green of Lids were the match's best players as they both won 7 games and gained the most points. Once again Kathy Howard was Stanley's best player as she won 5 games and scored most points.
