Division 1
Kingfisher B seemed to be heading for a heavy defeat to Poulton after losing the levels 11-1 ! with only a win in the final ladies preventing a whitewash. The tables were turned In the mixed however, as Kingfisher, fighting for their lives, won 8 games. This not only secured a point, but also kept alive their hopes of finishing outside the bottom places. A great team effort from Kingfisher especially from Rebecca Dewhurst and Gordon Jackson who won all 4 mixed including a last set victory to win a bonus point. Rebecca was top scorer for Kingfisher with 5 whilst Nick Hodgson comfortably won all his 8 games. Poulton and Fleetwood now with 2 remaining matches but Poulton not only have have the tougher matches but are crucially 1 point behind.
Division 2
No surprises in the top v bottom clash as Pilling B cruised to an 18-6 win against Kirkham Charter. At 4-8 down after the levels Kirkham were in with a chance of getting to 8 games, but in the mixed Pilling only dropped 2 games to leave Kirkham with no bonus point. Emma Gilfoyle and Amelia Parker both won 3 games for Kirkham. Alison Crosbie, Mike Aspden and Tim Shipway won 7 for Pilling. Many congratulations to Pilling as this result means they are deserved Champions averaging 18 games per match!
Albany B v Hesketh B was a one sided match especially as Hesketh were missing a lady. Hesketh sportingly played an A team player which meant that all the games could be played albeit 8 conceded. The score was 22-0 before Hesketh managed to split a mixed through Angela Fletcher and Andrew Jones 26-24 ! Albany, surprisingly, find themselves in a position where finishing 2nd is now a distinct possibility ! Of the games that counted Amit Mistry and Rob Cockerill both won 6 out of 6.
There was an exciting match between Project 12 and Lids which could have consequences on the final league positions! Project's men and Lids' ladies won 5 to tie the levels at 6-6. After both teams won a mixed set and another set was split, the score reached 10-10! In the final 2 sets Steph Tsang and Will Booth won a pair, whilst on the next court Lisa Masson and James Leigh lost the first game but then recovered to win the last game for a dramatic finish and a 13-11 win to Lids! Top scorers were Jon Jackson who won 6 for Project but POTM was Steph who won 7.
Division 3
Congratulations to table toppers Stanley A who defeated their nearest rivals Ribby Hall A 16-8 to win the division title. After a disappointing season last year which saw them relegated, Stanley have bounced back into Division 2, winning every match at an average of 19 games per match!. Despite the result, Ribby just need to win their final match to be runners up. Stanley only led 7-5 thanks to their men who won 6 but a great display in the mixed meant they only conceded 3 more games. Once again Emma Nickson was Ribby's best player with 5 games but star of the night was Reehan Khan who won all 8 games.
Levels
An injury meant Broughton conceded most of the games to give Bloomfield a 16-0 win and the 3 points which will keep them outside the bottom 2.
Only a Reehan Khan/Jake Meakin split prevented Fleetwood’s whitewash of Stanley. Nick Metcalfe and Jacob Carter with the maximums for title chasing Fleetwood who are still hot on the heels of their rivals Warton A.
Predicable result as Warton C were demolished by their own A team 16-0 - not helped by having to concede 8 games! C team rooted at the bottom and averaging less than 2 games per match. A team remain at the top conceding less than 2 games per match!
