Week 14 Report W/E 13th December

15/12/2019

Division 1
In a close encounter, Pilling A managed to record their second 14-10 score of the season against Kingfisher B. The victory was mainly due to their men who won all their games as Kingfisher’s ladies won 4-2 whilst the mixed ended 6 all. Kingfisher’s efforts were rewarded with a much needed bonus point. Mr Consistent Andy Davis won all 8 but POTM was undoubtedly Sarah Woodhouse who, despite being on the losing team, still managed to win 7 games - A great effort !

Division 2
A tight match was anticipated between old rivals Kirkham Charter A and Hesketh B. Both teams were promoted from Division 3 last season, and are finding the higher division much tougher as they occupy the bottom 2 places. Hesketh’s stronger men won 5 but Kirkham’s stronger ladies won 6 to take a narrow 7-5 lead. The mixed games were close but Kirkham always had their noses in front and won by 13-11. Kirkham’s Emma Gilfoyle won 8 which was matched by Mark Crosbie who, most unusually for a losing team player, also won 8. Kirkham’s first win of the season gives them 3 points which takes them closer to Hesketh, who stay 1 point ahead thanks to their bonus point.

Division 3
Struggling Stanley B were unable to get a bonus point in their 18-6 home defeat. High fliers Ribby Hall A forged ahead in the levels by 9-3 and kept up the pressure to win the mixed by the same score. Steve Whyatt was Stanley’s best player with 4 wins but Ribby’s Emma Nickson and Anita Driscoll both won 8. Stanley in a 3 way fight at the foot of the table but have played a game more than their rivals. Ribby comfortably in second 3 points behind the leaders but 3 points above 3rd place.

Levels
Fleetwood in second spot overwhelmed a much changed Project 12 in third, to easily win 13-3 and maintain pressure on league leaders Warton A. Fleetwood got off to a great start winning 7 of the first 8 games and only conceded 2 split games in the second half. Ant Cross was the only player to win all 8 whilst Steve Townsend-Tivey and Harvey Slater won 2 each for Project.

Warton B showed no mercy when they demolished their C team 14-2. The B team won the first and last 6 games whilst only the middle 2 sets were split. Giles Uppard won 8 games and Gregor Creelman won 2 games for the C team. Warton B in mid table whilst the C linger in bottom place but at least have games in hand.

Season starts again on Monday 6th January

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all players !
