Week 1 Report W/E 13th September

15/09/2019

League secretary Anthony Cross has already staked a claim for performance of the season. Ant played for 3 different Fleetwood teams on 3 consecutive nights and won 8 games in each match!

Division 1
Kingfisher A won 20-4 against their B team who were promoted last season.
Adrian Greenwood and Luke Bennett with 8 whilst Rachel Dewhurst managed 3 ladies and a mixed to win half her games.

Poulton won away to Pilling A thanks to a dominant display from their ladies who won 6-0 whilst the men's was evenly contested at 3-3. Poulton then won the mixed 10-2 for a 19-5 victory. Nikki Wilford won 8 and Michelle Skinner and Dawn Whitby won 7.

Last season's Division 2 champions Hesketh A met the current champions Fleetwood A and were quickly reminded of the gulf between the divisions as they went down 24-0. Statistically, Caroline Andrew was POTM.

Division 2
Lids A entertained newly promoted Kirkham Charter A and ran out comfortable winners 18-6 as Dan Cooper won 8 and Jane Allen won a creditable 4 games for KC.

Pilling B showed why they could be favourites for promotion with a 15-9 away victory at Project 12. The visitors edged ahead after the levels by winning the ladies 4-2 and splitting the men's 3-3. The mixed were hard fought with Pilling winning 8-4. Tim Shipway won 7 for the victors and John Wright won 5 games for Project.

Unbeaten Division 3 champions Hesketh B May find life in Division 2 a lot tougher as they went down 18-6 at home to Fleetwood B. Angela Fletcher and Mark Crosbie won 3 for Hesketh but Fleetwood's veteran Ant Cross was the star with a maximum 8.

Division 3
Kirkham Charter B were soundly beaten 20-4 by Lids B despite splitting the mens 3-3. Lids won the ladies 6-0 and the mixed 11-1. Dave Mackay won 3 for KC but Won Desmond and Ceri Smith-Jaynes were too strong and won all 8 for Lids who look a good bet for a quick return to Division 2.

Stanley A predictably cruised to victory against their B team for the loss of only 2 games. They had 4 players who won 8 games but it was Wendy Rutter who had the best points difference.

Another derby match pitted Ribby Hall A against their B team. The A proved too strong in the end with Fred Driscoll winning 7 whilst Julie Lalouette and mixed partner Iain McLean managed to win 4 games for the B.

Levels
New club Bloomfield were handed a tough first fixture against visiting Fleetwood and were duly beaten 15-1. Ant Cross and Josh Garrett won all 8 whilst Phil Hough and Eddie Choudhury won Bloomfield's consolation game.

The other new club to join the league were Broughton who also started with a difficult game against Project 12. The visitors comfortably winning by 13-3 with John Wright POTM and having a great week! Swati Sonwalker had a good Blackpool debut and was involved in all of Broughton's wins.

Last season's champions Warton A got off to a flying start when they overwhelmed their own B team 15-1. Nathan Bunting and Jeremy Cara won all their 8 games. Jenish Prajapatti and Giles Uppard with the B team's only game.
