Division 1
Pilling A beat a weakened Albany A 14-10 in the main due to them winning the men's levels 6-0. As usual Andy Davis was top scorer with all 8 games and Jenny Stothard replied with a fighting 7 games.
With both teams fielding reserves, Poulton Le Fylde still managed to easily overcome Albany B 19-5 with their 4 regulars winning 7 each. Amit Mistry played well as he split a mens and then both his mixed with debutant Kat Oakes for his 3 wins.
The last 100% record went as a much weakened Fleetwood A lost to Kingfisher A. Needing only 1 point to secure the runners up spot Kingfisher went on to win 20-4.
Division 2
Stanley A managed to win a bonus point which may yet prove crucial in their fight to avoid relegation. Their opponents Lids B completed their season with a fine 16-8 win which puts them temporarily in second spot. A good team effort saw Steph Tsang, Helen Miller and James Leigh win 6 games. Lee Meakin fought hard for Stanley as he split all his games. Stanley level on points but just 1 game ahead of Fleetwood B with both teams having 1 match to play - both next Wednesday!
Project 12 secured a vital win to ensure Division 2 survival at the expense of Pilling B who themselves needed the points to maintain their push for promotion. It was the ladies levels won 4-2 by Project, which proved decisive in the end as the men’s and mixed ended level. Pilling get a consultation point which still gives them a chance to finish second. Nicky Carr was the POTM for winning 7 games for Project whilst Mike Aspden won 5 for Pilling.
Division 3
With both teams trying to avoid bottom place, Kingfisher C and visitors Kirkham Charter B had a very close match which ended in a narrow win for the away team. Although Kingfisher lost the ladies 4-2, their men won 5-1 to give them a 7-5 lead going into the mixed where Kirkham then proved much stronger winning 9-3 for an overall victory of 14-10. Harry Heywood won 5 for Kingfisher but Katie Kinder was POTM for winning 7.
Hesketh B showed why they are champions with a comfortable away win to Ribby Hall A. Hesketh only had a narrow 7-5 lead after the levels but a decisive mixed score of 10-2 gave them a comprehensive victory. Melanie Bunney was the only Ribby player to win more than half their games as she won 3 ladies and 2 mixed. Andy Manson was once again best player on the night with a match winning 7 games.
Levels
On Thursday Warton B, who had one present Warton Junior and 3 from yesteryear, played against Albany who themselves had 2 former Warton Juniors in their line up. Albany proved victorious 10-6 with Rob Cockerill and Kyle Copeland each winning 6 whilst Jenish Prajapati won a commendable 5 games for Warton. It must be noted that League Supremo Rob Cockerill showed great commitment as this was his 3rd match for Albany in 4 days. having played for the A & B teams earlier in the week!!
