Division 1
Albany A entertained Pilling A and just creep into the top 3 with a very hard fought win 15-9. Pilling were only down 7-5 after the levels and were in the game until Albany forged ahead by winning 7 of the next 8 games to go 14-6 up. With the match lost, Pilling set their sights on getting to 8 games and a consolation bonus point which they achieved by winning 3 of the last 4 games. All Albany’s ladies Natalie Appleyard, Sian Meakin and Serena Hindle won 6 but Serena proved to be the best player statistically by having the best points difference. Once again Andy Davis was Pilling’s best player winning 6 games.
Division 2
Pilling B continue their march up the table with a great win 16-8 against arch rivals Kingfisher B. Pilling held a slight 7-5 advantage after the mixed but it was all square when Lynne Williams and Paul McSweeney won the opening mixed set to level the match at 7-7! This achievement was short lived however, as Pilling won the next 8 games to get to 15-7. Both games in the last mixed set went to 22-20 with Kingfisher’s Mia Anderton and Gordon Jackson winning 1 game to earn an important bonus point which just keeps them in second place.
Stanley A avenged their early season defeat to Project 12 by narrowly winning the return match 13-11. A winning start in the levels of 8-4 provided Stanley with a much needed cushion as Project won the mixed 7-5. Lee Meakin was the POTM for winning 7 and both Sarah Coultas and Mark Pickles for Project won 6.
No shocks in the bottom v top clash between Lids C and Hesketh A which ended 21-3 for the leaders. Nicky Johnson and Sheena Carberry both won 8 as Hesketh secured their 9th win from 9! A great performance from Mark Green who was involved in all the 3 games that Lids won.
Division 3
Kirkham A were a couple of A team ladies missing, but that didn’t stop them beating Stanley B 20-4. Emma Gilfoyle smashed her way through the night winning all 8 games. The cold must have got to Harvey and Sarah, who were so keen to keep play going that in their haste, they didn’t realise that they had played the wrong pairing in their first mixed set! They then ended up playing their correct 4 mixed games, therefore playing all three of Stanley’s pairs on the night - a record of sorts! Maya Meakin and Paul Marshall won 1 levels and 1 mixed.
Kingfisher unfortunately had to concede their match v Hesketh B.
Levels
Fleetwood had a comfortable away win against Albany 11-5. It was tied 3-3 after 6 games but then Fleetwood proved to be too strong and won 8 of the last 10 games to move into mid table.Ashley Funnel was POTM for winning 7 and a good display from Kyle Copeland who won 4 of Albany’s 5 games.
No more games now until after the holidays.
