Week 8 Report W/E 28th October

03/11/2019

Division 1
Kingfisher A kept in touch with the top places with an 18-6 win against Pilling A. Their ladies won all 6 but the men's was more even and ended 3-3 and after winning 5 of the first 6 mixed, Kingfisher secured another win. Alex Mackie was the only player to win 8 and Andy Davis was again Pilling's top scorer with 4.

Albany A showed no mercy as they bagelled Hesketh A 24-0 in a result that moves Albany up to mid table but keeps Hesketh rooted at the foot. Despite the score, all the games were competitive and played in a good spirit. Sian Meakin (helped by her supporters!) was statistically the best player on the night.

An enjoyable match with some close games ended with Poulton A maintaining their top spot after a 19-5 home win against Kingfisher B. Poulton's strength in the levels was evident as they raced into a 11-1 lead. Kingfisher refused to roll over and fought hard to win 4 mixed games. Nick Hodgson was the most successful player on the night but special mention to Poulton's Nikki Wilford who had a really bad fall on Monday, and, despite being covered in bruises and plasters, still managed to win 6 games! And if this wasn't amazing enough she played with her left hand !!!. Kingfisher's Sarah Woodhouse won 1 ladies and then teamed up with James De Wolf to win an excellent 3 mixed for a really good performance.

Division 2
The only match this week pitted the division's top 2 teams Pilling B and Fleetwood B, with an even match being anticipated. However the final score of 21-3 to Pilling was probably a shock to everyone. Pilling easily won all the ladies and although the mens was closer, Pilling still managed to win 4. The mixed was just as emphatic with Pilling only dropping 1 game ...on a setting ! Kath Coleman and Jane Grey both won 8 whilst Fleetwood's Ant Cross split 3 games. Fleetwood remain second but Pilling have now opened up a 6 point gap at the top.

Division 3
Kirkham Charter B won an important and exciting match against fellow strugglers Stanley B. With both teams starting the match on 1 point, a close match was expected. Stanley's women won 4 games but this was bettered with Kirkham winning 5 men's to take a slender 7-5 lead into the mixed. Each team then won a mixed set but in the next 4 games Kirkham won 3 for a 12-8 lead going into the last 2 sets. Stanley won the next set to reduce the deficit to 12-10 and when they won the first game of the last set 23-21 the match was still in the balance. However Kirkham's Lottie Webster and Jordan Taylor-Millington held their nerve and won a nail biting last game 22-20 for a final score 13-11 ! Jordan and team mate Ian Cartmel won 6 for the victors and Gill Brook won 6 for the unlucky losers. Kirkham now have 4 points and Stanley, thanks to their bonus point, now have 2 points.

Levels
Project 12's usual line up was far too strong for Bloomfield as they comfortably won by 14-2. All of Project's men won 7 and all of Bloomfield's men won 1.

Fleetwood easily maintained their great start with an away win at Stanley. There were a handful of close games, with 1 game going to setting, but overall Fleetwood were in total control. Fleetwood, despite their 100% record stay second on game difference. Stanley remain in mid table.

Predictably, Warton A demolished their C team 16-0. The A team keep their 100% start and top spot whilst the C remain rooted at the foot of the table.
