Week 6 Report W/E 19th October

21/10/2018

Division 1
Only a Sam Ames and Will Booth men's split prevented a whitewash as Kingfisher A cruised to a 23-1 home victory v Lids moving them into top spot. However 4 settings all went the way of the home team suggesting it wasn't totally one sided. Jonathan Mosley statistically the best player on the night.

Albany B v Pilling A was a tough bottom of the table clash with both teams hoping to pick up points. Albany, however, were unable to convert their many net court shots and the match finished with a 23-1 win for Pilling. The scoreline doesn't really reflect how close the games were and included a 30-29 in the last levels game as well as 3 other games which went to setting.Only Amit Misty and Fran Hellier managed to win the final game 22-20 but not before the sports hall staff tried to pack up and walked onto the court with the score 19-20! Elaine Danson and Andy Davies were POTM (players of the match) for winning 8 games. Biggest shock of the night was Shippers declining an invite to the pub ! Thanks to Cockers for his onsite report!

Fleetwood climbed up the table with a tough 15-9 win at Poulton. They edged ahead 7-5 in the levels and then pulled further ahead winning the mixed 8-4. Nikki Wilford & Ant Forrest won 5 for PLF but Andy Wiseman was back to his best - winning all 8 for the Champions (elect?).

Division 2
Pilling B improved their lowly position with a 23-1 thumping of bottom team Lids C. Alison Crosbie statistically the best player - Julie Bennet & Mark Green with the solitary game for Lids.

Promotion chasing Lids B won an even match against Stanley A 14-10.The ladies and mens ended 3-3 to take the game into a mixed shootout. 4 of these sets were split but the other 2 sets were crucially won by the youngsters Steph T'sang and Dan Cooper who ended with 7 games each whilst 4 players from Stanley won 4 games.

Looking for an early return to Division 1 Hesketh A continued their great start with an emphatic 20-4 win over Fleetwood B who find themselves at the wrong end of the table. Sheena Carberry was POTM winning all her 8 games. Derek Hill and Ant Cross won 2 for Fleetwood.

Project 12 given a 24-0 win after Kingfisher B conceded the match.

Division 3
Game of the Week was Kirkham Charter B v Kingfisher C which was a friendly but evenly fought match and had some very close games including 2 settings both won by Kingfisher. Kirkham felt disappointed to lose 9-15 as only 3 points separated the teams in the end! Debbie Oddy won 7 for the winners whilst all Kirkham's men won 4 with Richard Pascucci not only having the best points difference but unusually managing to split all his games! Thanks to Penny Page for the details!

Hesketh B continued their winning run by defeating Ribby Hall B 16-8. There were some hard fought games with Hesketh going into the mixed 8 -4 up followed by winning the mixed by the same score. John Callahan picking up a game in his debut match for Ribby. Michael Lloyd won 7 for the winning team whilst Melanie Bunney played well to win 7 games for the losing team including a final mixed with John Wright to earn Ribby a bonus point. The highlight was the Halloween themed refreshments afterwards which was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks to Michael for this!
