Week 4 Report W/E 5th October

Division 1
Poulton lost only 2 games away to struggling Pilling although the match was much closer than the score line suggests. Nikki Wilford and Ant Forrest were statistically the best players. Andy Davis was involved in both of Pilling's winning games.

Game Of The Week
Featured Albany and Kingfisher, two of the top teams from last season and who had won both of their games this season.Unsurprisingly the match was close and ended in a 13-11 win for the (nearly all except Stuart!) youngsters from Albany.It was the ladies from Albany and the men from Kingfisher who dominated the levels meaning that it was 6-6 going into the mixed.With both pairings of Natalie Appleyard & Lee Williams and Jenny Stothard & Rob Oakes winning their sets Albany went 10-6 up.Kingfisher hit back and won 3/4 to close the gap to 11-9 but Albany kept their nerve and won the required 2 games for a close victory.Natalie & Jenny won 7 for Albany. Jonathan Mosley replied with 6 for Kingfisher.

Fleetwood were too strong against a weakened Lids and ran out comfortable winners 22-2.Tim Vickers, Caroline Andrew and Cath Bagley (correct spelling this week!) won 8 James Leigh with both games for Lids.

Division 2
It was another thrilling night as Lids B took on Pilling B! Lids got off to a great start winning the levels 11-1. Pilling then started to claw it back in the mixed winning 4/6 before Lids pushed on in the final games. The final score of 18-6 to Lids however didn't give justice to some close and tense matches.The result leaves Lids with a fantastic start to the season with 2 wins and candidates for promotion.Thanks to Dan Cooper for his report.Lisa Musson was the star player for Lids whilst the mixed pairing of Jane Grey and Tim Shipway won 3 for Pilling.

Division 3
An eventful start to the match involving a locked hall and missing posts, but ending with a 14-10 victory and birthday cakes for Emma and the home team Kirkham in their local derby with Ribby Hall B.Some close games with 4 going to setting - all won by Ribby!
James Atherton for the home team and Melanie Bunney for the visitors each won 6.Many thanks to Ian Chase for his amusing report.

Kingfisher C came away with a much needed win against Stanley B.This closely contested match was 6-6 after the levels with the first mixed set to Kingfisher and the second to Stanley for an 8-8 score.The away team then finished strongly winning 6 of the last 8 games for a 14-10 win.Stanley's Steve Whyatt and Kingfisher's Julie Sleightholme with 6 games each.

Hesketh B consolidated their top position with a comfortable 20-4 home win against struggling Kirkham Charter B. Vanessa Butcher and Steve Blackburn with maximum games and Katie Kinder with 3 for Kirkham.The match saw the first 30-29 game of the season won by Jill McMillan & Steve against the unlucky Katie & Richard Pascucci.
